| The Head of the club is Paul Budden (7th Dan Renshi). Paul has a Level 2 award in Coaching Studies from the University of Gloucester and is a registered international Coach. Kazuyo Matsuda 6th Dan, BKA National Coach, former national ladies coach, national referee and the most senior graded lady kendoka in this country. Carl Ranger, 3rd Dan & Adrian Wagstaff, 3rd Dan who are BKA level 1 registered coaches. Adrian is also Club secretary and Carl is the Welfare officer. All Instructors are NAKMAS registered, insured to teach Kendo and hold current CRB disclosures |

Practice schedule
Sessions are held weekly. The standard procedure for joining the Kodokan Juniors, is to come
along and watch a session or even two (if still undecided) before joining the club for the 4 week induction period ( on the set dates) 10am - 11am ages 9 to 12 Years. Kodokan Junior class dates for 4-week beginner’s sessions: |

Session 1: 27/02, 06/03, 13/03, 20/03 27/03 session is cancelled (Ozawa seminar) Session 2: 03/04, 10/04, 17/04, 24/04 03/07 session is cancelled (Charity Event) Session 5: 10/07, 17/07, 24/07, 31/07 04/09 session is cancelled although on the next day - Sunday 05/09 there is a 'special' one day Kodokan junior seminar with Sumi sensei 8th Dan Hanshi. Kodokan Club fee structure
Kodokan Kendo UK Fee structures for Juniors: New member enrollment - joining fee: £25 includes Club membership, Insurance cover, shinai (Bamboo sword) with carry bag and membership Annual renewal for an existing member - £10 Monthly practice fee - £25 payable by Standing order or Direct Debit only. Where there is a cancellation in the month the revised fee of £20 will apply. (Please check the calendar for any such cancellations). |

Grading (There are no fees for grading) We operate a 12 kyu system based on coloured ‘Tag’ markers ( 2 per colour) attached to the face of the zekken – ( name cover on the tare – protective apron): Ideally hakama, keikogi & zekken should be purchased/obtained around the time of the first grading Gradings are held every 2 months (8 weeks) this means 2nd kyu is attainable between one and a half to two years practice. |
