Kodokan Shiai League

Now in its second year the Kodokan shiai league has matches on the last Wednesday of each month.

The main emphasis of the shiai league is put on the members to organise between themselves and to collate and publish the information in the form of a league table.

Here are the rules and requirements.

Within the structure of the Matches the rules are simple:

There is no restriction on grades competing i.e. Kyusha can fight Yudansha, however points will be awarded in favour of the Kyusha

There will be 3 Referees plus recorder and timekeeper, in some instances we appreciate that it may not be possible to have experienced personnel, no matter this is a complete learning process - Shiai and Refereeing and Organisation… so this is a practical hands on experience and a learning curve

All refereeing results will stand

The fighting order will be in the form of pools of fighters from 5 [above or below] each fighter will fight twice in individual 3 minute bouts for 2 points

Where this is a grade differential between fighters: certain points will be allowed for each such match as follows:

Kyusha to any Dan grade - 1 point.
Shodan to Nidan - 0 point.
Nidan to Sandan - 0 point.
Shodan to Sandan - 1 point

Matches will be recorded: Fighters grades, Results: Win or lose to the individual and total points scored. Its the points which are the deciding factor, so not only do you have to win or draw you have to do it with the maximum points possible in order to progress on the League table. Usually wins then points decide order but as we operate a handicap system points give the placement and wins will decide a tie.

At the end of the year Trophy's and prizes will be awarded.
